We are delighted to invite you to a Higher Seminar (högre seminarium) with Professor Dan Svantesson on the topic of “Making Jurisdiction and Sovereignty Fit for Cyberspace.” Professor Svantesson is a Professor at the Bond University Faculty of Law in Australia. He is a Co-Director of the Centre for Space, Cyberspace and Data Law, a Senior Fellow at the Social Cyber Institute and an Associated Researcher at the Swedish Law & Informatics Research Institute at Stockholm University. A leading expert on cyber law, Professor Svantesson has contributed to commissioned reports by several international organizations, including the United Nations and the OECD. He has been recognized as the Field Leader for “Technology Law” in Australia, and he serves on the editorial boards of many international journals.
Professor Svantesson is currently a Fellow at the Norwegian Nobel Institute, where he is developing a set of ready-to-implement model provisions addressing jurisdiction and sovereignty to be incorporated in international instruments.
Professor Svantesson’s presentation will be followed by Q&A, which will be moderated by Dr. Märta Johansson, Associate Professor of Public International Law at Örebro University. Welcome remarks will be delivered by David Silverlid, Doctoral Candidate in International Law at Örebro University and the Membership Secretary of the Swedish Branch of the International Law Association.
