Privacy Policy
This privacy policy provides you with information on how we process personal data in accordance with current legislation, and with reference to the General Data Protection Regulation, which entered into force on May 25, 2018.
What information do we collect?
You may directly or indirectly provide us with information about yourself in a number of ways. For example, certain personally identifiable information is collected through our newsletter and events registration forms. What information we choose to collect about you depends on how and why you have been in contact with us. If you register for our events, the information we register will generally be limited to your name, email, and phone number, and you can choose to register your title and employer as well. The same information is generally required if you wish to contact us using the form on our website. If you sign up for our newsletter, the information is generally limited to your email. We do not require you to register or provide personal information to access information and materials on our website. However, if you register for an event or our newsletter, you will receive information about our work, such as our activities, reports, and events. We register your information to accommodate your request to register with us and to improve usability.Â
If you wish to become a member of ILA Sweden, you need to register your membership with the Headquarters of the International Law Association, through their website. The Headquarters of the International Law Association processes the membership information.Â
We only process information about you that is necessary to meet our legitimate interest. For example, to provide you with information about our activities, reports, and events. It may also be that we want to follow up on your visit to one of our events. Another legitimate interest of ours is to keep our invitations and newsletters as relevant as possible for you. Our purpose is to provide you with service in the form of relevant communication and invitations. In deciding which information to collect and process, we balance our own legitimate interest against your interest in protecting your personal data.Â
Sometimes, we may need to process your personal identification number. This is the case when we host events at third-party venues that requires us to submit the participants’ personal identification numbers ahead of the event. This may be the case when events are hosted at certain government ministries or other venues that have special security needs. We will only process your personal identification number when it is motivated for its purpose.
Consent
We may explicitly ask you to give your consent when you register for our events or our newsletter or when you contact us using the form on our website. Consent is a voluntary and clear will through which, after receiving information, you accept the processing of your personal data. This means that you may receive invitations to various events and networks, news about reports, and newsletters.
You may contact us to revoke your consent or change your preferences as to what you are interested in at any time. You are free to access, correct, remove or contest the personal information that we have about you. You do this by contacting us.Â
Automatically collected data
We use cookies and similar tracking techniques to enhance your experience of our services. By these means, for example, we may get information about your IP address, browser type and your operating system, displayed web pages, links you clicked, web sites you visited before you came to our site, and which emails from us that you open, forward, or that bring you to our site.
Photo, movie, and audio recording
When attending any of our events, we may record or photograph the event and the participants. This means that you may be present in audio and video recordings or photographs of the event. This information may be used in different ways by ILA Sweden and may be published internally or externally.
Who can we share your personal information with?
In some cases, we may share your personal information with third parties. For example, when we host an event at a third-party venue, such as a law firm, events venue, or university, that requires us to submit the list of participants ahead of the event.
